Candidates Cause Concern for Supporters of Online Casinos
With the US Presidential election on the horizon, online gambling supporters are curious and hopeful to see what shakes out when it comes to the online casino market in the States. Since the UIGEA passed in 2006 with many Congressmen being completely oblivious to its existence and inclusion in the Safe Port Act, billions of dollars have left the American online casinos. Will a new president change anything?
Although the Democratic candidate is still unknown, John McCain will be the Republican candidate for the White House. Although it is early, some fear that McCain will be bad for the issue of sports betting. According to an article on ESPN, "McCain wants to eliminate what he sees as the most troubling aspects of legalized gambling in the United States. He has led the fight to ban gambling on college sports, a battle the Nevada casinos have won (so far), in part by suggesting that he would make Super Bowl and NCAA pools illegal. And McCain would ban Internet gambling -- not because it's addictive, but because players typically have no way of knowing whether they are in fair games."
It was only a few years ago that McCain attempted to ban legalized sports betting on college games which was considered an affront to Nevada, the only place in America where gamblers can legally bet on college sports. With sports betting catching up to online casinos in the world of internet gambling, this gives many good reason to be concerned.
