BetOnSports Required to Advertise Closed-Door Policy
While having gone unreported for the most part last week, the settlement concerning the civil case between the U.S. Department of Justice and U.K. online gaming firm BetOnSports included an important detail in that it requires BetOnSports to assert publicly that online gambling is illegal in America.
Though BetonSports' legal experts insist that the agreement does not indicate any admission of guilt, the organization is obligated to taking out a U.S. advertisement in a leading newspaper telling U.S. customers that online gambling is illegal in the U.S. and the online casino shall no longer accept their bets. The company's websites are also required to display similar messages.

According to Professor I. Nelson Rose, an American gambling law authority, the settlement is not likely to have much of an effect on the online gaming industry. Mr. Rose asserts that companies were more concerned about the recent passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which is designed to crack down on U.S. banks transfering wagers placed by players on the Internet.
