What's the difference between European & American roulette?
There is zero difference - literally - between European and American roulette. A European roulette wheel comprises 37 pockets numbered 1 to 36, plus a single zero, for a total of 37. An American roulette wheel, on the other hand, has 38 pockets; also numbers 1 to 36, a single zero plus a double zero for a grand total of 38 pockets.

Another difference between American and European roulette are the chips (or cheques) used for placing bets. When buying-in at an American roulette table in US casinos, each player is presented with a stack of coloured chips so that his or her bets can be distinguished from the other players' chips on the table. In Europe, roulette chips are all the same colour and people's memories are relied on in order to remember whose bets are whose.
