FireOneGroup, Leisure & Gaming Folding on US Gaming Market
FireOneGroup PLC and Leisure & Gaming PLC became the latest online gaming companies to voluntarily refrain from accepting wagers from US residents in the wake of the recent legislation rendering it unlawful to place bets over the Internet.
Earlier in October the US Congress passed legislation outlawing the use of credit cards, checks and electronic money transfers for online gambling. President Bush is expected to sign the bill into law.
FireOne processes transactions made by online gambling enthusiasts using credit cards. The company has announced their intention to stop accepting bets from US players. Leisure & Gaming is said to be considering the sale of their US-based interests.
