Former Partner of Lobbyist Jack Abramoff Gets Punishment Reduced
Adam Kidan, the former partner of notorious Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff in the 2000 fraud involving the purchase of SunCruz Casinos, recently saw his prison sentence cut in half for cooperating with investigators assigned to his case. According to a recent report, District Judge Paul Huck agreed to reduce Kidan's jail term to just less than three years.
In 2006, both Kidan and Abramoff pleaded guilty to fraud in the purchase of SunCruz Casinos from the gaming business' former owner Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis. Following his confession, Kidan was supposed to serve almost six years behind bars. His original sentence was to have run until 2011.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lawrence LaVecchio was reported as saying that Kidan provided important information against his partner in the casino fraud case. LaVecchio added that without his cooperation the investigators would probably not have had enough incriminating evidence against Abramoff. It was also indicated that Kidan offered assistance in other cases as well.
