Game Over for Gambling Act Proponents Leach, Frist
Online gaming aficionados began rejoicing as the news about Iowa Congressman Jim Leach's defeat flashed throughout the online gaming industry. Leach was one of the architects behind the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act passed last month.

Leach was defeated in yesterday's election in a close race against Democrat Dave Loebsack, 53% to 44%. Representative Bob Goodlatte (Republican-Virginia) and Senator John Kyl (Republican-Arizona), also main proponents of the bill, retained their seats.
Tennessee Republican and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a major proponent of the UIGE Act opted not to run for reelection. Instead he's hedging his bets on being nominated as the Republican presidential candidate for the 2008 elections.
Before suggesting what's in store for the online gaming sector, analysts, for the most part, are demonstrating a "wait and see" approach concerning the election fallout.
