Internet Gambling Site Adds Webcam
In a move that could change the future of online casinos, one internet gambling poker room has added a new feature to dramatically change the meaning of online gambling: the live webcam. The biggest difference between and offline and online casino has always been the lack of non-verbal signals and communication; that is all about to change.
Online poker players will now not only be able to see the other players but also talk with them. No longer will there be only "online tells"; facial expressions, beads of sweat, they'll all be visible just as they are in offline casinos, making a good poker face crucial.
"Poker is like living in a big family," said a company representative this week. "All the interaction happens around a table, whether online or in reality." The webcam is extremely easy to use for both technology pros and novices. Users complete a quick registration, choosing a username and password before video and audio is added.
Online casinos are continuing to grow in 2008 with industry leader Titan Poker having given away $100,000 to players of Omaha pot-limit games in February and March alone. The World Series of Poker also announced the opening of the first ever academy/camp dedicated to teaching advanced strategy to succeed in No Limit Texas Hold'em.
