The veteran Republican lawmaker lost to Democratic Party challenger Dave Loebsack (53) in what's been described as a close race.
Leach's means of disrupting the online gaming industry was by going after the financial institutions facilitating the funding of gambling accounts.
Throughout his re-election campaign, Leach referred to the new Internet gaming legislation as being among his proudest achievements.
