1. Registration for the 2009 WSOP Now Open

      It was recently reported that gaming giant Harrah's Entertainment has opened up preregistration for the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Interested poker aficionados may register for the prestigious competition either live at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino or online at worldseriesofpoker.com.

      Jack Effel, WSOP tournament director, was quoted as saying, "As [is] now customary, no alternates will be seated at the 2009 World Series of Poker. [...]We encourage players to preregister early to guarantee their seats."

      This year's poker championship is slated to kick off on May 26th. It will feature 57 gold bracelet tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. The 2009 WSOP will also feature a unique $40,000 buy-in event designed to celebrate the competition's 40th birthday. Further info is available at the WSOP website.
