UIGEA Timeline
In September 2006, the United States Congress passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) effectively banning banks and credit card companies form facilitating financial transactions to and from online gambling casinos, poker rooms and other web-based gambling venues. The Act was signed into law (with the Safe Ports Act) by President George W. Bush on October 13th and, in its aftermath, a number of events have since shaken up the annual $12 billion dollar online gambling biz.
In our ongoing effort to keep you “our readers” better informed, the CasinosVIPLounge.com news team is glad to provide the following timeline illustrating the sequence of events in the US and around the globe concerning the effects of America’s selective prohibition on Internet gambling, along with the legal and political dealings both for and against.
